I just came across this really sad article (it is posted below) where a kid was killed while attending a party that was suppose to mimick that party thrown in that movie "Project X." I think this is a great example of how movie inspires culture.....in the wrong way of of course. We have filmmakers have a responsibilty for the content we produce and movies like this are a great example of what can happen when glorify the wrong stuff on screen. Heck, when I was younger I remember that nearly everything I wanted to be when I grew up was derived from a movie.....a fighter pilot (Top Gun).....a tough guy football player (The Program).....a CIA Operative (Spy games). Movies have the capabilities to inspire culture and we hope to see more and more content that inspires culture in the right way. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the kid who passed. The other night I was watching the film “The Ides of March”(which I felt was bit labored and sort a waste of an amazing cast of actors) and something caught my attention which was sort of washed over by the film. In one instance, Governor Mike Morris (played by George Clooney) is in the middle of a Presidential Primary in a very tight race to win the state of Ohio. In a telling speech he professes he does not believe in God, and claims his allegiance is to the United States Constitution and that alone. I wondered if this allegiance and his disbelief in God had any correlation? I also wondered then about how many allegiances I have to things other than God? My country, my family, my species, and so on....this got me thinking.....
